2016 Adult Swim Singles Program, Week 2: VHÖL – “Dispatch”

<—- Week 1: DJ Paypal, DJ Earl + DJ Taye – “Dose”    Week 3: D∆WN – “Serpentine Fire” —->

Hey everyone. RobBarracuda here, and it’s time to talk about the newest release from the 2016 Adult Swim Singles Program.

The second released single comes to us from VHÖL, a west coast-based metal group featuring members of Hammers Of Misfortune, Agalloch, Ludicra, and is fronted by Mike Scheidt of doom metal group YOB. VHÖL’s mainly concentrates on playing black and thrash metal with various experimental elements thrown into their sound. “Dispatch” falls purely into the thrash category, following the stylistic shifts adopted on their previous album Deeper Than Sky, and it is amazing. There’s not really much I can say to elaborate on this song other than it leans very heavily on a late ’70s/early ’80s metal sound, and it is the best kind of classically awesome fist-pimping metal jam that any band could write. Another incredible song from the Singles Program this year, and I can’t wait to hear what comes next. You can stream this song below, and you can download it for free right here.
