2016 Adult Swim Singles Program, Week 8: Elysia Crampton – “Flora’s Theme”

<—- Week 7: Ryan Hemsworth feat. Keaton Henson & Mitski – “Wait”

Week 9: Blanck Mass – “D7-D5” —->

Hey everyone. RobBarracuda here, and it’s time to talk about the newest release from the 2016 Adult Swim Singles Program.

Electronic music producer Elysia Crampton has dropped a new song with Adult Swim on the heels of her latest album, Demon City, coming out within the next week or two, titled “Flora’s Theme”. Elysia’s style tends to be very dense and cinematic, the latter being greatly emphasized on this new tune as it opens with echoing industrialized sounds like lasers, crackling percussive elements, and whips. This continues at the tune segues into lush synths combined with unsettling dissonant synth chords and a multitude of voice samples all talking over one another, painting a mysterious yet magnificent musical picture. The song definitely feels like taking a quick glance over a major scene in an avant-garde sci-fi action film, and it is so fantastic in portraying that vibe. It’s even communicated somewhat through the single’s artwork, which has the appearance of a strange wormhole opening up to reveal magnificent sights upon whoever chooses to gaze directly at it. You can stream “Flora’s Theme” below, and you can download it for free right here.
