During the Toonami Pre-Flight panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the crew announced their most recent acquisition for the block: the anime adaptation of the highly popular long-running manga series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. While an exact premiere date is currently unknown, it’s slated to premiere in October, which means it could possibly follow the end of One-Punch Man’s run or possibly Hunter X Hunter once the Hunter Exam arc finishes. Toonami can be expected to air at least the first season of the JoJo anime which covers the first two arcs of the manga, “Phantom Blood” and “Battle Tendency”, possibly with a break in between since as of this writing, the entirety of the third arc, “Stardust Crusaders”, has yet to be dubbed (this also seems to be the plan according to this Ask FM response from Jason DeMarco: http://ask.fm/Clarknova/answers/137849054441 ).
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure originally began publication in 1987 and has completed seven story arcs, with the series currently up to its 8th arc with JoJolion. The series, created by Hirohiko Araki, follows the titular JoJos (the Joestar bloodline) and their constant struggles against the forces of evil, usually all being tied to the sinister and villainous DIO. The television anime adaptation began airing in 2012 and is currently in the middle of airing the fourth arc of the series, “Diamond Is Unbreakable”
