<—- Week 10: JLIN – “Downtown”
Week 12: Against Me! – “Haunting, Haunted, Haunts” —->
Hey everyone. RobBarracuda here, and it’s time to talk about the newest release from the 2016 Adult Swim Singles Program.
This week’s Adult Swim single is a new track from Detroit noise-rockers Protomartyr, who bring us “Born To Be Wine” following the release of their most recent album, 2015’s The Agent Intellect. The song’s mood feels very akin to getting really drunk at a bar one night after some awful things have happened . The guitar work is very melodically dissonant, simultaneously conveying a melancholic tone while being as loud and noisy to the point of being ambiguous in its feelings. The noise builds more and more towards the last minute or so, eventually swirling into a chaotic vortex of various odd sensations that are incomprehensible, much like trying to perceive the world around you after getting ridiculously shit-faced. You can stream “Born To Be Wine” below, and you can download it for free right here.
