2016 Adult Swim Singles Program, Week 13: Earl Sweatshirt feat. Knxwledge – “Balance”

<—- Week 12: Against Me! – “Haunting, Haunted, Haunts”

Week 14: Vince Staples – “’06” —->

Hey everyone. RobBarracuda here, and it’s time to talk about the newest release from the 2016 Adult Swim Singles Program.

Following a year after the release of one of 2015’s best albums I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside, rapper Earl Sweatshirt releases a brief but stunning new track titled “Balance”, working with hip-hop producer Knxwledge. The track is every bit as somber and depressing as Earl’s output up to now, although perhaps noticeably more so due to Earl’s voice sounding more subdued. The beat has this melancholic feeling like the end of a long and rainy day as Earl reflects on a few thoughts, mainly sounding frustrated and regretful over some incidents he could have handled better. While it’s less than a minute and a half long, the song definitely leaves an immediate impact with its dreary sorrowful atmosphere.  You can stream “Balance” below, and you can download it for free right here.
