<—- Week 26: Lord RAJA – “Fox Den”
Week 28: Chino Amobi feat. Dedekind Cut & Rabit – “Negative Fire” —->
Hey everyone. RobBarracuda here, and it’s time to talk about the newest release from the 2016 Adult Swim Singles Program.
The Body are one of the more interesting bands to come out of the sludge/doom metal genres in recent years, taking the typical genre conventions and infusing huge doses of electronic synths and programmed drums to add a melancholic industrialized vibe to their sound. Coming off the heels of releasing their most recent album No One Deserves Happiness earlier this year, they bring a new track titled “To Know And To Hide”. Personally, I kind of wish this was part of the main 25 weeks, because this is a great horror jam for October. The song’s chiefly comprised of a haunting John Carpenter-esque synth droning over the entire song accompanied by a subdued electronic drum beat. As the song progresses, it grows to include an unnerving fuzzy rumbling bass, chopped-up acoustic drums, and the inhuman bird-like screeches of vocalist Chip King. All of these elements swirl together to create an oppressively haunting atmosphere akin to the best horror films out there, and it is just a devilishly good listen. You can stream “To Know And To Hide” down below, and be sure to download it and the other released singles right here.
