IGN and the official Toonami Facebok page broke the news today that starting January 7th, the block would begin airing the long-awaited English dub of Dragon Ball Super, the current television entry in the long-running Dragon Ball franchise. This comes after a great deal of speculation that the dub would likely be aired elsewhere, whether it be FUNimation’s website or through Disney X D. The dub will be airing at 11:30 PM on Saturdays, suggesting that the block will once again be shifting up to that time slot as it often does. In addition, Toonami also announced that they will be airing the long-awaited Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z: Kai starting on January 7th in Kai‘s usual time slot. This news comes just over a week after the network also announced it would begin airing Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Re:0096 on the same night at 1:00 AM, replacing Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. In a couple of other Toonami-related scheduling updates, December 24th and December 31st will suspend regular programming in favor of marathons of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and DBZ Kai, respectively. On the night of December 17th, the block will double up on episodes of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, marking the end of the series’ first arc Phantom Blood and the beginning of its second arc, Battle Tendency.
