JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood Episode 8 – Bloody Battle! JoJo & Dio

Hello everyone, welcome back to the second to last Phantom Blood recap! Since I haven’t done so yet, let’s talk about the voice actors for the English dub of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure!
First is Johnny Yong Bosch. He plays the main character in Bleach, Trigun, Eureka Seven, Kaneda from Akira, and those are just off the top of my head! In other [adult swim] productions he was the MC in Wolf’s Rain and Code Geass,  Rossiu Adai from Gurren Lagann, Yukio Okumura from Blue Exorcist, Izaya Orihara from Durarara!!, Shinkawa Kyouji from Sword Art Online, and was Orga Itsuka in Iron-Blooded Orphans. In JoJo he plays JoJo.
Next up is Patrick Seitz. He’s been Luke Valentine in Hellsing, Simon Brezhnev in Durarara!!, Charles Beams in Eureka Seven, Keith Shadis in Attack on Titan, both Kenpachi and Isshin in Bleach, Franky in One Piece, and most notably Ira Gamagoori in Kill la Kill. In JoJo you’d think he’d play George BUT IT WAS HE, DIO!
Then there’s Keith Sliverstein, voice of Speedwagon. He’s much more prominent in video games, but makes appearances in anime as well, such as that creepy clown guy from Hunter x Hunter.
And finally we have Michelle Ruff, voice of Erina Pendleton. She also plays Sinon from Sword Art Online, Fujiko Mine in Lupin III, and Rukia Kuchiki in Bleach.

Poco arrives home to find out her sister has been Dioed! We then OH FUCK THEY TALK SOMEONE EXTERMENATE THEM ASAP!

Thank you Count Dio.

JoJo arrives at Count Dio’s Lair to give a good thrashing. He kills the Medusa zombie who does not deserve an introduction, he finally is about to go head to head against Count Dio. Or at least he would if one of Tonpetty’s students Dier wanted to enact revenge for Zeppeli. History repeats itself as Count Dio freezes his entire body, making his attack useless. All but his head. As Futurama has taught us all, just because you have nothing but your head doesn’t make you useless.

Hamon through rose.

After Speedwagon tosses JoJo’s sword at him about 3 feet away, a bunch of enemies gang up on the side-Hamon users you don’t care about right now. JoJo gets ready for the final battle between him and Count Dio. They lash out at each other and we learn Count Dio’s weakness: flowers! Taking these into advantage, JoJo nearly chops him in half. Until his sword freezes. Why can’t these people remember Count Dio is like a living version of The Day After Tomorrow? Well, apparently JoJo did. He positioned it in a way that the sword is in fire when Count Dio freezes it, and the sword is heated up. Only one more punch is left in this battle. JoJo uses hamon to heat up his hands  so he can get passed Count Dio’s barrier of ice. He succeeds at destroying Count Dio once and for all. Count Dio can’t accept defeat, and tries to laser Jonathan out of existence, failing at it. He falls to his doom.

Next time we end Phantom Blood.

Even though the title is false advertising (not a very bloody battle at all), this is still a satisfying episode. It doesn’t feel panned out, even though there still isn’t much to talk about. I enjoyed it a little, but not a ton. Unlike the next episode. 😉

Final Rating: 8 out of 10. Any objections to this are USELESS USELESS USELESS USELESS USELESS USELESS USELESS
