2016 Adult Swim Singles Program, Week 30: Krallice – “Hate Power”

<—- Week 29: The Obsessed – “Sodden Jackyl”

Hey everyone. RobBarracuda here, and it’s time to talk about the newest release from the 2016 Adult Swim Singles Program.

Krallice have been one of the most prominent bands in the current black metal scene since they first formed in 2007, constantly building their reputation as one of the most chaotic and experimental bands in the genre. With the band set to put out a new release on December 21st titled Prelapsarian, the group has dropped a new track (possibly off that upcoming release) titled “Hate Power”. I’ve admitted in the past that the musical aesthetics of the black metal genre are rarely appealing to me, and while I can’t say I’m extremely fond of this song (mostly due to the vocal style and the song feeling barely structured in any sense), I thought it was okay. The mitigating factor here for me is the opening segment, which hits you in the face with a blast of shredding guitars and pounding drums that carry a vibe akin to some classic bands in the death metal genre; the main ones that come to mind are Demilich, Suffocation, and old school Morbid Angel. So if that era of death metal is your thing, and you like your metal to be this disjointed, then you’re likely to enjoy this track. You can stream “Hate Power” down below, and be sure to download it and the other released singles right here.
